A Unique Program For Carnegie Mellon Student-Athletes

At Carnegie Mellon, we pride ourselves on being on the cutting edge of all facets of higher education – intercollegiate athletics is no exception. We are thrilled to launch the Carnegie Mellon Student-Athlete Alumni Mentoring Program, which we believe will make a significant impact on the academic, personal and professional experiences of our student-athletes.

The philosophy behind the Carnegie Mellon Student-Athlete Alumni Mentoring Program is simple – we aspire to connect our world-class student-athletes with our world-class student-athlete alumni. Mentors are available in all facets of industry – investment banking, education, medicine, consulting, engineering – and they are eager to work with you.

Mentors and mentees will be linked by a special bond – you are all Tartans! Each of the student-athlete alumni volunteering for this program has navigated late practices and early exams, competitions and homework, intercollegiate travel and upcoming interviews. They have graduated from Carnegie Mellon and they are eager to remain involved with the next generation – you.

The program is setup to help match student-athletes and student-athlete alumni, and then facilitate communication between you for six months. The hope is that the relationships will continue past the formal structure, and that you will leave Carnegie Mellon with two, three or even four mentors that will help provide guidance through this critical time in your lives.

Given the feedback from members of our student-athlete community, the Carnegie Mellon Student-Athlete Alumni Mentoring Program will focus on professional development and opportunity. Our student-athletes are excelling academically and athletically, and we know you are focused on preparing for wonderful internships and careers. Your mentors will be there to provide a lens into their experiences as student-athletes and professionals, and we hope you will take advantage of the unique opportunity.
